Content rules for storytellers

Last updated October 24, 2026.

Lantern Saga is for adults, and every quest on it stays within these rules: dark and grown-up in its themes, never explicit. They apply to every story told to the forge and every quest published or shared. The forge follows them when it writes, and declines to write stories that cannot be told within them.

Welcome

  • Dark themes, horror, grief and hard moral choices.
  • Danger and violence that serve the story, shown with dread and consequence rather than gore.
  • Romance as feeling, friendship, loyalty and betrayal.
  • Original worlds, and stories inspired by a genre.

Not allowed

  • Sexual content of any kind.
  • Hate: content that demeans people for who they are (ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, nationality).
  • Torture or cruelty shown in detail, and cruelty to children or animals for its own sake.
  • Real people, living or historical, in a demeaning or misleading light, and private details about anyone.
  • Someone else's work: characters, worlds or text from books, films, shows or games you do not own.
  • Self-harm or suicide offered as a choice or described as a method.
  • Real-world instructions for weapons, drugs or crime.

What happens when a quest breaks them

Players can report a quest from its page. A moderator reads every report. A quest that breaks the rules is kept out of the library or hidden; serious or repeated breaches can end a Storyteller’s account. Quests published to the library may be reviewed before they are listed.
