Sir Aldous of Mardle is seventy-one and coughs like a broken bellows, and tomorrow he must win the Lantern Lists and pay his debt in his own person, or Lord Gall takes Mardle, the village that raised you.
He dies in the night. His armour is laid out on the bed. Nobody has seen his face in the lists for forty years, because the Acorn Knight never lifts his helm. You have one day, one old warhorse and a borrowed name, and they hang people for false arms.
Content notes: the death of a mentor, terminal illness, grief, violence (tournament and a tavern brawl), execution (threatened).
